A Balanced View of Issues Facing America

  • Be The People
  • A Call to Reclaim America’s Faith & Promise
  • Carol M. Swain, PhD ©2011
  • Thomas Nelson Publishers
  • ISBN 978-0-8499-4828-2 9 Hardcover
  • 230 pp. plus appendices, notes and index

Dr. Swain, a well-respected and intelligent African-American woman has written a balanced book about problems our nation faces. She recognizes that we are losing our moral and constitutional foundations, but believes if we would work and pray together theUSAcan still be saved.

The author begins the book with a review of where we came from as a nation.

Some other issues Swain discusses include a loss of our national identity, the problems of abortion, immigration, family definitions (gays), and racism. She talks about her feelings as a black woman concerning President Obama.

I especially enjoyed reading the Ten Commandments, our Constitution and Bill of Rights at the end of the book. I was surprised to realize that folks quoting the Constitution seem to leave off the first paragraph, expressing our dependence on God. The extensive notes supply the many sources this writer uses in her comments about various issues.

Every concerned American needs to read this important book

About samcivy

I read my first book a week after beginning first grade and haven't slowed down in seventy years. My system often wakes me in the night so I keep books on a chair in the bathroom and do a LOT of reading. I'm a free-lance writer/editor and review books for various authors as well as Thomas Nelson Publishers and Amazon.com. I will soon be posting books for a blog tour by KathyWillis.com, a book promoter.
